So much AI in the news this week—from “An AI Model Has Officially Passed the Turing Test” to “Amazon’s New AI Agent Will Shop Third-Party Sites for You”. And it got me thinking…
Not just about how fast the tech is evolving—but about how I’m using AI in my own life. About how transformative it can be for the better. How it’s helping me find more time, more focus, and more ease—without losing what makes me me.
Because at the end of the day, we’re still the heroes of our own stories. AI is the tool, not the author. The co-pilot, not the captain. No matter how ‘human’ it may seem to be, in the end AI is here to support our creativity, not replace our humanity.
As a product marketing executive and a parent, time is my most valuable asset. Balancing strategic planning, messaging, and go-to-market execution at work while also managing school drop-offs, bedtime routines, and everything in between—it often feels like there just aren’t enough hours in the day.
Enter AI-driven efficiency.
AI tools have become my secret weapon—not to replace what I do, but to enhance how I do it. Whether it’s streamlining tasks, automating repetitive work, or generating ideas, AI helps me gain back time—time I can spend on what really matters, both professionally and personally.
Here’s a brief list of ways that I’m currently using AI to make me more efficient—without losing my authenticity.
AI for Work: Productivity Without Losing My Voice
Draft Faster, Edit Smarter
AI-powered writing tools can help jumpstart content creation—whether it’s positioning statements, customer messaging, or email campaigns. But don’t just copy and paste.
Tip: Use AI to brainstorm and structure your ideas, then layer in your unique point of view, tone, and brand. AI is a great sparring partner. But you’re still the storyteller. This also helps you avoid all those crazy AI buzzwords!
2. Automate Repetitive Tasks
From meeting summaries to competitive research, AI can cut down hours of manual work.
Tip: Instead of spending 30 minutes summarizing a customer interview or reorganizing meeting minutes, let AI transcribe and surface key themes. That’s 30 minutes you can now spend thinking strategically instead of typing notes.
3. Smarter Data Analysis, Faster Decisions
AI-powered analytics tools can help surface insights from market trends, product usage, and customer feedback in real time.
Tip: Let AI handle the heavy lifting with large datasets—but trust your intuition and experience to make the final call. AI spots the signals; you connect the dots. Plus, AI still hallucinates - a lot - so it’s important to sanity check insights or trends. This is where your expertise and experience shines.
AI for Life: Gaining Back Time as a Parent
AI isn’t just for work—it’s a life optimizer too. Here’s how I use AI to win back precious time for family, rest, and sanity:
Smarter Scheduling, Fewer Logistics Headaches
AI-powered calendar assistants help coordinate meetings, reminders, and even meal planning so I can focus on being present instead of juggling schedules.
Example: Automate recurring tasks—school events, doctor appointments, birthday RSVPs—so nothing falls through the cracks leaving you left scrambling. And now with Amazon's new AI agent, maybe it'll buy all those birthday gifts for me too!
2. AI as an On-Demand Learning Tool
From homework help to quick dinner ideas, AI is a fast problem-solver when time is short.
Example: My daughter asks, “Why is the sky blue?” or the always dreaded “How are babies made?”. Instead of wracking my brain for the right thing to say, I get a quick, age-appropriate answer—and turn it into a fun learning moment. Admittedly, I’ve learned quite a bit from Alexa recently!
3. AI to Make Routines More Efficient
Voice assistants, smart shopping lists, and automated to-do lists cut down decision fatigue and make everyday life smoother.
Example: Use AI for routine tasks like ordering groceries, setting reminders, or even summarizing books—so you have more bandwidth for the things that truly matter. Like sleep. Sleep is great.
My “Golden Rule” for AI: Efficiency - Yes, Blind Trust - No
AI helps you move faster, but you still own the output. Here’s how to balance speed and authenticity:
Fact-check AI-generated content—especially when using it for messaging, customer insights, or strategy.
Keep your unique voice—AI can mimic tone, but only you can bring personal experience and emotional intelligence.
Use AI as a co-pilot, not an autopilot—it should enhance, not replace, your expertise.
The Real Value of AI: More Time for What Matters
Efficiency isn’t just about doing more—it’s about freeing up time for what matters most.
For me, that means:
✔️ More strategic thinking at work.
✔️ More meaningful time with my family.
✔️ More mental space for creativity and growth.
There’s a lot of mixed feelings about AI right now, but in my view AI isn’t here to take your job, your voice, or your decision-making. It’s here to give you back time—so you can spend it on what truly matters.
And when used intentionally, that’s not just efficiency—it’s empowerment.
How are you using AI today—and what tools are making a real difference in your life or work? I’d love to hear your favorites!
